This Treatment Can Help

A misaligned bite or jaw can cause problems with chewing, speaking, breathing, sleeping and result in migraines, speech issues and sleep disorders. Many of these issues can be avoided or remedied early on with early orthodontic intervention. At BCO, we recommend an evaluation for Early Orthodontic Treatment at age 7 – so that we can determine the best course of action to address problems while they are still able to be corrected with orthodontics. Many issues are able to be addressed prior to the beginning of puberty when the palate fuses. For those patients whose palates have already fused or whose jaw malformation is severe, jaw surgery may still be necessary.

Orthognathic Surgery and Orthodontics is a combined treatment by Dr. Welsh and an oral surgeon to correct jaw abnormalities. These issues are determined after reviewing the patient’s X-rays and digital models. Dr. Welsh works closely with trusted surgeons to achieve optimal results.

Dr. Welsh levels and aligns the teeth in the jawbone, then the oral surgeon positions the jaws into an ideal position to allow for an optimal bite. Post-surgery, Dr. Welsh perfects the tooth alignment to give you the smile of your dreams. This procedure results in an improved ability to chew, speak, and breathe, while also delivering improved facial aesthetics.
